Probe’s reputation as “The leaders in wetsuit technology” has evolved though our constant commitment to incorporate the latest wetsuit innovations and technology into each of our products. Topping the list of Probe’s innovations, so far, has been the invention of the world’s first 100% Super Stretch dive suit. A proven innovation that has significantly lifted the levels of performance expected from all dive suits.

All of our wetsuit products are designed and rigorously tested in Australia, and manufactured using only the most advanced and highest quality materials available – no compromises.

Whilst designed and manufactured to withstand the demands of diving, our wetsuits also have a unique multi-sport versatility that offers you extra value for money.

The Probe wetsuits story

Probe Wetsuits is an Australian owned and operated company that combines the talents of two lifelong friends; Dave Griffiths, a highly respected wetsuit designer who for 14 years headed the design team of Australia’s top surfing wetsuit brand; and David Forbes, a career diver who began struggling against the rigours of neoprene in the work place in 1985.

Probe Wetsuits began in early 1999 when David Forbes first asked Dave Griffiths to make him a dive suit.

"I need a dive suit with the flexibility and comfort that your surfing suits have," he said.
"Dive suits are so stiff and uncomfortable – and I’ve tried them all - can’t you do something?"

Dave Griffiths did some research and together we developed a new revolutionary Super-Stretch dive rated neoprene, which was unbelievably flexible, warm, durable and most importantly was highly crush resistant at depth, making it perfect for diving.

The development of our new Super-Stretch dive neoprene allowed us to produce prototypes of the world’s first 100%Super-Stretch dive suits, which were by far the most flexible, comfortable, and warmest dive suits we had ever worn!

Forbsy thought his problems were over when he dived in his new prototype suit. He absolutely loved it! But soon we were getting requests to make suits for fellow divers and in no time we had sold hundreds of suits to commercial and professional divers simply through word of mouth.

Commercial and professional divers are very tough on their suits and provided the perfect marketplace to fully test the durability and function of our Super-Stretch dive neoprene – and it stood up to everything the divers could throw at it.

Our aim was to allow all divers to enjoy the incredible benefits that our 100%Super-Stretch dive suits deliver – who doesn’t want to be both warm and comfortable at the same time? You shouldn’t have to sacrifice one for the other like we did in the past!

"Believe me I spend hours in the water as a professional Abalone diver and these suits are revolutionary. Once you"ve worn a 100%Super-Stretch suit, you can never go back to the suits you had before", says Forbsy.

As interest grew in the "biggest innovation in dive suits in thirty years", and as recreational divers began demanding our Super-Stretch suits, we developed a full range of new products to service all their needs.
To complement this, we designed a full range of new and innovative thermal garments and lycra products. The likes of which, had never before been seen in the diving market place.

Today, the incredible benefits of our Super-Stretch dive neoprene and the unique multi-sport functionality of our entire range is seeing our products being enjoyed by, not only divers, but by enthusiasts of every kind of water-sport imaginable; a fact that, we at Probe wetsuits are extremely proud to say.
